Maiden Tuart Forest

Bunbury's Tuart Forest is one of the last stands of natural Tuart Forest on earth!

It is considered priceless given the South West is one of only 34 global hotspots singled out for it’s spectacular, internationally significant biodiversity and the threat of extinction it faces. The South West is the only global hotspot to be listed in Australia.

This Tuart Forest is exceptionally rich in animal and plant species and home to many varieties of orchids and wildflowers. The Forest is also the home to a large mob of Western grey Kangaroo. Other mammals and marsupials in the forest include the Ringtail Possum, Southern Brown Bandicoot, Brush-tailed possum, Brush-tailed Phascagale, Black Gloved Wallaby and a number of Bat species.

The Forest supports over 100 bird species including: Purple-crowned Lorikeet, Elegant parrot, Regent Parrot, Whistling Kite, Tawny Frogmouth, Splendid Blue Wren, Grey Shrike Thrush, Scarlet Robin, Golden whistler just to name a few.

All of the above together with the frogs, skinks, geckos, lizards, spiders and snakes that scatter the forest floor will ensure you get close to nature in Bunbury.
