Celebrate Australia Day Friday 26 January with a bang in Bunbury!
Getaway from the hustle and bustle this Australia Day and spend in Bunbury with a Bang. Bunbury hosts the largest Australia Day celebrations outside the metropolitan area, with a spectacular 25 minute fireworks display over the Leschenault Inlet.
A day of activities centered around Bicentennial Square is planned to celebrate our nations Birthday.
The celebrations commence bright and early with the Great Aussie Breakfast at 6:30am. For the more energetic individuals the traditional Australia Day Fun Run/Walk departs the square at 7.30am and travels around the Leschenault Inlet.
The Mayor's Australia Day Ceremony will follow this and include the presentation of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and the Community Event of the Year
The free family concert will entertain audiences in the late afternoon/evening. Showcasing local talent the concert will feature the Bunbury Youth Chorale, Big Steve and 2004 Australian Idol winner Casey Donavan.
Street theatre, side show alley, food stalls and kid’s activities will also add to the carnival atmosphere.
During a break in the concert all eyes will be directed up as the sky explodes with colour and excitement of the Fireworks Spectacular display that promises to feature pyrotechnics never before seen in Bunbury.
Casey Donavan will return to the stage following the fireworks display continuing the celebrations into the late hours of the evening.
The city’s celebrations are set to remind us all why we are proud to be Australians and/or living in Australia.
In recent years the spectacular Australia Day Celebrations have gained a reputation as an event not to be missed and well worth travelling for. With Australia Day falling on a Friday this year the City of Bunbury hopes visitors will spend the long weekend in Bunbury enjoying the wonderful lifestyle we have to offer.
