Whether you have a boat or just a well-used handline, ask around for the inside word on Bunbury’s best spots for catching a sumptuous feed of fresh fish or the local delicacy Blue Manna crab.
Five minutes north of Bunbury you will find the Leschenault Estuary, one of the area’s favourite crabbing spots. Hopefuls of all ages, silhouetted by a summer sunset with dab net in hand, are a very familiar site from the adjacent Old Coast Road, as they wade knee deep in the Estuary’s sheltered waters.
For fishing there is a good choice of beach, rock or jetty spots. Check out the Back Beach, Wyalup-Rocky Point, The Cut and Bunbury Jetty.
Daily bag limits on fish and crabs apply. For information contact the Bunbury Visitor Centre or the Bunbury Fisheries Department on +61 8 9721 2688.
